Founder Rodney Beck shares his experiences since establishing the business in 2010. His affinity to auctioneering began decades ago when ventured into the property sector in 1978 where he was exposed to diverse types of sales of properties. Although it was something he wanted to be involved in, it was only in 2008 when he first delved into auctions. This proved to be pivotal and became the foundation for what would become The High Street Auction Company, which was formally established two years later.
Rodney reflects on the allure of the auction industry and the desire to create something substantial with seasoned partners. "I wanted to be involved in this exciting industry and to start my own business with experienced partners.”
Although he does not personally conduct the auctions, he finds immense joy in the vibrant chant and the palpable excitement that accompanies each event. This is reflected in his lengthy list of top auctioneers who have impressed him throughout his career including influential figures like Joff van Reenen, James Dall and Nick Pretorius among others, who have provided guidance and inspiration along the way.
