Dean Baldwin - Asset Auctions
Asset Auctions in Meyerton is a successful and prosperous business in the auctioneering industry in the highveld region, and around the country. They have become synonymous with customer satisfaction, which is due largely to the efforts and hard work of Dean Baldwin, the co-founder of Asset Auctions, and his team.
Dean's journey in the auctioneering industry started in 2005 when he started working alongside his uncle. When the opportunity arose, he joined up with a group of partners and, together, ventured into the business themselves. This lead to the creation of Asset Auctions in 2008.
With a family history deeply rooted in auctioneering—his great grandfather being an auctioneer—Dean felt a natural pull toward the industry. The dynamic nature of the job, the constant learning from various sectors, and the daily interaction with diverse individuals were aspects that particularly appealed to him.
Over the past 18 years, Dean has faced numerous challenges in the auction industry, emphasising the importance of hands-on experience and crediting mentors like the late Brian Bolton and his uncle for guiding him. The journey of Asset Auctions, from a modest 350sqm warehouse in Edenvale to a countrywide operation with offices in Meyerton, Bedfordview, Cape Town, and KwaZulu Natal, has been marked by growth, challenges, and a strong emphasis on client support.
The company specialises in liquidations and insolvent estates, mining, construction, earthmoving, property, industrial, catering, office and livestock. Some of its most notable accomplishments include its involvement in the Black Top Plant liquidation, one of South Africa's largest at the time and the successful online sale of Ellies Manufacturing, a massive 3-day event conducted just after the Covid-19 lockdown.
Despite the continuous expansion, Dean and his partner, Graham, remain committed to preserving the personal touch that has defined their relationship with clients since day one.
