The SA Auction Conference 2019
The Services SETA is proud to announce the first South African Auction Conference
This conference is aimed at attracting all auctioneers throughout South Africa and neighbouring countries to provide an industry-agnostic platform for new networks to be formed and industry insights to be shared.
Auctioneering is a sub-sector within the Services SETA’s Property Chamber. While a lot of attention is put on property, some investigation showed that the auctioneering industry was not given the attention that was required. As a result of this, a special project was commissioned by the board of the SSETA to promote the auctioneering industry. To this end, the SSETA appointed a project management company to deliver on various aspects of this initiative, including but not limited to:
- Formal Research (Qualitative and Quantitative)
- Promotion of Stakeholder Engagement
- Promotion of new entrants in the market
- Mentorship of SME's by existing businesses
- Training of new and existing auctioneering
- Registration of new training providers
In order to achieve this, the Services SETA invited all industry associations that are related to the auctioneering industry, to form part of a steering committee. The steering committee represents the key stakeholders that guide and ensure the success of this project. Therefore we are proud to announce that this conference has the support of the following associations:
- The South African Institute of Auctioneers (SAIA)
- The South African Professional Auctioneers Association (SAPAA)
- South African National Association of Progressive Sheriffs (SANAPS)
- Agricultural Products Agents Council (APAC)
- South African Sheriff Society (SASS) Strauss & Co.
Presentation of Research Report
Report on the first formal research in the South African Auctioneering Industry. This research will answer the questions of the size of the market, the value chain, and a macro view of how the industry is constituted.
Creation of New Linkages
Key stakeholders from banks, government, game and insurance companies will be at the conference. This will provide opportunities for auctioneering companies to build new relationships. The goal of the conference is to also provide a platform auctioneering companies to form new synergies amongst one another to take the industry forward.
The conference seeks to invite CEO's and executives from some of the fastest-growing auction companies in South Africa to share their insights about the future of the industry.
